EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Thanks, have to look into that one a little closer. A nice take on a modernized slip joint.

Not sure how familiar you are with Benchmade's lineup, but there are four standard models of the "Proper" all with satin finished blades and uncoated hardware in addition to this limited edition; the 319 with green/brown micarta scales, the 319-1 with red G10 scales and the 318 and 318-1 with the same setups as the 319/319-1, except that they have clip point blades.

Very nice ‘last day’ carry choice. Here’s hoping an even sweeter opportunity presents itself in place of the warehouse gig :)
Thank you man. I'm going back on campus starting the winter semester so that's going to be fun. Online education and working was way too much for me.

So expect to see smaller and lower profile EDC choices coming from me later on in the year. Definitely going to miss playing with my knives all day at work ;)

Best of luck back on campus! Definitely a great excuse to treat yourself to a nice edc pen...or three ;)

In my friend's wedding today.

This question is open to evilgreg evilgreg who may have the most Southards I have ever seen an individual own. But anyone else please answer if you know.

The stock Southard scales come with two weird metal lugs on the underside of the scale. They seem to do nothing except fit into two corresponding cutouts on the liner. They can actually be spun in place on the scale so I am not sure how they are attatched.

What do they do? The only thing I can think of is make a firmer connection between scale and liner.

They can be seen here on the underside of the brown scale on the right. One is to the left of the lanyard hole and the other one is north of the pivot hole.

I have a lot of Southards, and really like the model, but I have no special inside knowledge to share on the odd little nubbins of which you speak.

I can definitively say that that losing/removing them has resulted in no issues, and that with the knife assembled I couldn't tell if there was or wasn't a tiny little extra piece of metal between the presentation side and the scale. IMO, they're probably there to help keep the scale aligned, either in general or during assembly in particular or something (my guess, as once the screws are in the scale is captive), but in any case they are the equivalent to the Southard having an appendix.

Thanks for the info. I’m not very familiar with BM’s, strangely enough, but this one is checking a lot of boxes on my list so I’m learning now.
