So, tell me I’m not the first person here to do something stupid.....like setting a knife in a tree for a picture, only to have a big gust of wind come along and knock it off to the jagged rocks below?

My OCD is managed fairly well, but even slight scratches can bug the crap outta me, particularly when they could’ve easily been avoided. It’s one thing to scuff a knife or watch through use....but to do it for the sole purpose of staging a vanity shot? Ugh.

I think from here on out I’ll be sticking to tabletop and kerchief shots for any knife I consider “light duty”, lol.

This is my best knife stack but the wind was dead still. I've caught 2 before probably won't again after getting poked. You just have to be careful that the knife is stable.

Give them character my friend, that scratch will have a story on its own. EDC and scratches goes hand in hand :D! Unless you keep it in a safe, you may be able to avoid them

Lol, that’s the thing; Id like to be able to one day tell my son that a particular scratch came from the time I had to fend off a great white that attacked my kayak off the coast of Maine. Explaining that I was trying to make the knife look pretty by delicately placing it in a tree for a photograph just doesn’t quite convey the same “user experience”. Hahaha

But seriously, I get what you guys are saying and appreciate it.

On a somewhat related note, I’ll share one more slightly embarrassing lesson I learned. The Cheburkov I received two days ago is far and away the sharpest blade I’ve ever handled. When I was taking pics yesterday, I’d wipe the blade off with my shirt now and again to get the fingerprints off (very carefully with the edge facing out). When I sat down to dinner, my wife asked what had happened. Lol..... I looked down and my shirt was shredded. It looked like a tiger had raked me across my belly. No idea how it even happened.

Geez, I probably shouldn’t even be allowed to play with these things. Maybe I should just stick to my gun collection.

Last night I picked out a work knife for today and got it out to handle alongside my SHF which I carried yesterday. Turns out the action was balky and the knife needed a good cleaning. CRK 21's are so easy to work on--just remove the pivot screw and receiver and pull the blade, bushing, and washers right out the front. Loosening the stop pin a taste helps ease the assembly out and back. I got everything cleaned up while watching Thursday night football, polished the washers on an old strop, lubed everything up, and slipped the assembly right back in--no need to pull the slabs apart at all as it's a cinch to run an alcohol-soaked swab in between 'em. As expected, the blade came out dead-centered with no tinkering and the action is smooth and free.

I shot these while splitting wood this afternoon as it was a bit too windy to work on the high part of the roof after doing some prep for that in the morning.

nice! I used to have the green version and man the Wyvern’s grind and blade stock is thinnn! Great slicer! gave it to a buddy to try out a Civivi but just saw the WE/Civivi sale at a dealer online so went ahead and ordered the Damascus version like yours. Had a discount code also so great price! Civivi kills it for budget blades!
Definitely a good knife. Especially on sale. :D
