Yea it was overkill for sure. And after i thinned the scales it was like holding onto spikes.

I had my REX45 Native Chief with me today, using it this morning to cut cords to length for the wheeled DR Trimmer/Mower, neatening up what passes for a lawn front and back of our camp and to fight back the ever-encroaching forest vegetation. Later we headed out in the Polaris to check out the forest condition and broad eastern view of the White Mountains from our upper acreage. The northern border there is a bit less than a third of a mile of abandoned town dirt road still passable by FWD that's often blocked by fallen trees which need to be cut out of the way from time to time. Today we ran into a substantial, gnarly old maple downed in our path and utilized my 49SP Jonsered, camp axe, and the Ranger's winch to remove and pull out of the road a large enough section to continue on our way. Here's the Spydie, Woodcraft axe, and a wedge from that maple on my tailgate after we got back to camp after riding out through our lower woods to say hi to one of our neighbors on his farm out back.

Those are nice knives absolutely loving my OD green Micarta. The chase was almost just as rewarding
