This corner of the bookshelf has really beautiful light. The problem is making the background interesting.

Not the case today, though. Leatherman box, to the rescue!

If you're like me, you've spent many hours surrounded by pictures of "gentleman's knives", because you found out that was a thing, and you needed one.

What I eventually decided was that a knife will always be a knife, and the gentle people may still take issue with it, no matter how bejeweled or understated it is.

But a multitool? Ahhh. It's not a knife, and passes right by their cultrophobia. Carbon fiber for a touch of fancy, and a pocket clip. Nothing to see here.

Later in the day, it was my Boker Toucan.

I have a strange fascination for one-piece multitools (I know what you're thinking: I like his work, but not the prices).

May I introduce Cold Steel Recon 1 "Malaquena" :D I got the idea when drooling at Navajas Barbudo knives. Blade is stock, handle has been modified guite a lot. Personally I like it more now. Unlike the navaja it has a clip, I feel it fits it's intended purpose and nature.

We worked in an around the woodshed and shop today, culling through scrap wood, sorting into burn and save. We had a half-foot's worth of kindling-sized stuff clogging up the bottom of the framing-scrap side, so J got that into barrels and I changed the access to make it easier in and out while leaving the pen-boards up. We got a couple loads cleaned up from in and out front of the shop after K and I had gone through lots of saved material last weekend and improved the storage there.

Nothing like a couple unseasonably cold days here on-Cape to get one paying attention to firewood. All that little stuff will make a few days worth of super-hot fires in the Russian fireplace to keep us warm.

It has been a while since the Guru has gotten any love

And I may have created a monster. In her quest to find a knife for me, my girlfriend has been picking her own knives out, and admitting that she's getting into them

And she's jumping straight to WE Knives! I don't know of I should be proud or scared of the fact that there might be another knife addict in the relationship...
