Absolutely beautiful scenery my friendPosting for the weekend, as I haven’t had much of a chance until this morning.
There was no school Friday so my son and I headed up to a place called Colchuck Lake, in a area of mountains known quite fittingly as The Enchantments. One of the most stunning lakes around, and with just an absolutely majestic mountain view looming around you that pictures don’t do justice, it’s one of our favorites that we just had to squeeze in before the weather turns for the season. It lies at about 5,500ft elevation, with around 2,300ft gain on the hike. My son clocked it at around 12 miles we walked total, but that was with plenty of exploring around the lake (I also walked around for an extra half hour or so while he napped on a rock by the lake, which has become a favorite custom of his at the top of these hikes).

Then Saturday we headed out towards Rainier, where we literally had our head in the clouds all day. This blocked much of what would have been stunning views, but it was fun and still exceptionally beautiful in its own way nonetheless, and beats the hell out of not being in the woods for sure. It’s getting cold up there for this Florida Boy though, so I’d better get out in it as much as I can while I can.

We were able to catch some views of the peak however.

Head still in the clouds a bit this Sunday morning. No plans. Just listen to some music, watch some football and relax, perhaps a Nerf war will jump off (a possibility at any point around here), and fool around with a few SAK’s and accessories that came in the mail over the past couple of days.
Warm robe and sweatpants carry throughout the day, which happens to be a cold and stormy day, but perfect for a recovery day. Take it E-Z like Sunday morning blade f(r)iends!

(Mail call: Discontinued Wenger and Vic, some scales for swapping around, and a Ti Cadet that I picked up just so I can disassemble it and learn the ropes of SAK modding before I jump in drilling things.)
