Today we ride with the RAM in hand! I took it apart, painstakingly cleaning ever nook and cranny with alcohol (I can't stand when I can't get the excess oil off from near the pivot with the knife assembled and I get oil on my hand every time I pick it up haha), then I took my dremel with a polishing wheel and red rouge and polished the milled out channel for the Hawk Lock, polished the stainless tab that is the Hawk Lock, and did a light polish on the DLC on all moving parts that make contact with another part. The DLC coating is fantastic but is rougher than a satin or bead blasted finish so makes a little bit of drag from friction. I polished up that stainless Hawk Lock piece so that its SUPER smooth. Then reapplied some Moly grease on the lock springs, and a light Q-tip touch of Hoppe's #9 oil on all moving parts and now the knife is crazy smooth and completely oil free on the exterior. Just the way I like it! Here's a couple pics on how the lock works for those that have never had one or taken one apart.

Mine is a 12/20 made LUDT and it has an Elmax blade. Go figureExcellent. I'd read that they sometimes used XHP in these, but I haven't seen one yet.
Hey no problem and thanks for the props. Ya know, I keep meaning to post some knives in that thread because I take every knife I own apart atleast a couple times a year to clean and re-lubricate. Ok, when I get some time here I'll post a few knives over there. I pretty much always take pictures just in case. Have a good one manNice write up together with your pictures. I can’t stand the oil/lube leak out on the fingers either. If you get a chance you should also post your write up and pictures here in the Knife Disassembly thread. It’s a nice reference for people to be able to go look at.
Thanks for sharing with us.

This Bugout recently survived a trip through the washer & dryer, so I thought I'd take it apart and do a clean & lube. Also took the opportunity to do a scale swap to the Flytanium Titanium...I probably won't keep it this way, I didn't plan ahead and the thumb studs and other hardware don't look...www.bladeforums.com
That's a cool one! I havent seen one like it before. Reminds me of my grandpa's doodling
I have family out there…love that area
