I'd like to tell you my opinion of that, but I know who I'm dealin' with, Danny Linguini here.... so I ain't sayin' nothin'. My name's Johnny Tightlips, and I ain't about to tell you how beautiful that Owl is. Tony Lasagna had a few thoughts, that's why he's in the Pines. To wit … I just showed my wife this pic of a 247, and suggested it would make a really nice retirement gift. She said for $700 I can keep looking at the picture.
Pardon me for a moment while I wipe up the drool. And the tears.

Just laugh. Thing is, she’s right. She’s usually good about letting me indulge in my whims, and I wasn’t even serious when I showed her that pic. I want to retire next year, so I don’t need to be throwing that kind of money around at absolute non-essentials. I love looking at some of these beautiful pieces, but she asked what I’d actually do with it, and the fact is I’d just put it away somewhere and look at it once in awhile - no way I’d go walking around with a knife that expensive, much less use it and risk damaging or otherwise devaluing it. So I’m fine. I picked up a couple of really nice knives these last few weeks that I like looking at, fidgeting with, and using, and I figure there might be one or two more at some point, but they’ll most likely be of the modestly priced variety. I’m a very casual hobbyist - there’s a lot of nice stuff out there in the $100-$200 range that I’d be more than happy to have. I’ll leave the higher end stuff to the hard core users and collectors.I don't know whether laugh or frown. Persevere and good luck when retirement comes.
The William Henry B-30 Burnside and the B-12 Atlas have ZDP-189 San Mai blades. The former (lower knife) is new and getting some pocket time.View attachment 1845765
The lengths are virtually identical: overall, blade, and handle. If you got a ZDP-189 B-12, tie it to your big toe when sleeping so it doesn’t disappear. Is the B30 a little longer than the B12? I picked up a B12 at Blade, love it a whole lot!
Tie it to your male appendage, make it seem longer and harder. "Why yes, my phallus is at 66 rockwell hardness!"The lengths are virtually identical: overall, blade, and handle. If you got a ZDP-189 B-12, tie it to your big toe when sleeping so it doesn’t disappear.
