I ended up doing a bit of sharpening on Father's Day. My son the electrician has the large Victorinox Trekker--a hand-me-down from my wife--which he uses for work. He was opening a package with it and looked at me rather sheepishly as it was so damn dirty and dull, so Dad cleaned it up for him, sharpened the reverse combo blade on the Sharpmaker triangle edges, and lubed up the pivots.
My wife saw that and brought me her Delica and 551-1 Grip, both of which she uses pretty hard, along with her most appealing, plaintive look, so I set about bringing those two back to more usable states as well. I had bought a set of the newer EdgePro diamond matrix stones last August, but had yet to use them, so I figured this was a good time to try them out as the 20CV BMK needed a lot of work. I warmed up on the Delica's VG10 then set about re-profiling the Grip, which took some time but came out very well.
As it was My Day, after all, I finished up by working on my re-scaled PM2 as it had a couple of smallish but somewhat deep chips in its belly along with a flattish, rolled surrounding area, courtesy of your's truly scraping off a couple of steel electrical connections last week. I did a bit of a re-profile on that one too, going through the diamonds from 250 through 650, 1100, and finishing with 2300 and a good stropping. There's still just a little trace of the deeper chip left for next time, but I'm pretty happy with both the new edge and of course my Ripp's Garage Tech SW fluted Ti scales.
