EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Have two questions for you, what blade is this and what is planned for the Trager this weekend? After last weeks chicken that looked perfect had to ask.
Hope the weekend is shaking out smoothly! It’s a Sharp By Design Evo Typhoon produced by Reate. As for what’s next on the smoker, looking towards a brisket. Appreciate the kind words on the chicken though!

Posting for yesterday, as I didn't get in until night, and replenishing myself with Korean Fried Chicken and cold beer (as well as relieving my ailing knees) took precedence ;). We hiked just over 16 miles in total, first up to an Alpine Lake high in the mountains, then to the peak above at around 5,600ft. The road to the trailhead was closed, so we had to start right off the exit of the highway, which added a few miles as well as a good bit of elevation gain to the overall hike. We also took an old defunct trail the rest of the way up to the lake, which while much steeper is alot more fun, and even has a nice boulder field to scramble over. Also, since the official trailhead was closed, we had the place almost to ourselves. I was accompanied by my 17 y/o sun and his buddy, so knife pics were not a priority, but I still managed to snap a few in the 10 hours or so we were out there. Most importantly though, we all had an amazing memorable time :cool:

First up to the lake, where we splashed off a bit and had some snacks.

Then on to the peak

Finally made it. Below you can see the lake we were at previously. Pics don't do the view justice.

Finally, back down to the lake. This time we got in the water to really cool off, before the couple of hours hike we still had ahead of us back down to the ride. Luckily the trail we take down follows the creek and its waterfalls, so it makes for a refreshing end to an exhausting trip.

Beautiful pictures! Glad I didn't have to post after those!
Freek CF Friday mountaineering from hell today. 3 summits, and a vertical mile. Pics.

Kind words, heck I was 🤤. Please, please post a picture of the brisket if it comes to fruition, debating on a Trager or another 3 burner BBQ.🥰

1) On the far left is a Mokume Gane bracelet by @annevillestudio ;
2) Today I wear the Patek Philippe Aquanaut;
3) Money clip is by William Henry and has a Mokume Gane frame by Mike Sakmar with a Woolly Mammoth molar insert;
4) Next is the Spalted Beech Chris Reeve Mnandi with Chad Nichols raindrop Damascus blade;
5) And, finally, a full custom modern slip joint by Joel Chamblin with CPM 154 blade in a modified Wharncliffe pattern with harpoon swedge, and lightning strike carbon fiber covers.

Carrying the Scout again (gosh, but slipjoints are perfect for bumming around in basketball shorts)...

...But also sacrificing this RR Canoe to a new adventure. :D

I've always felt like a bad knife knut for not knowing how to sharpen my own knives. But past dabbling in freehand sharpening never ended well, so for years I've written it off as not for me (and paid folks who know what they're doing to sharpen my knives). But the Work Sharp Precision Adjust looked idiot-proof enough even for me, so I figured I'd give it another shot.

This Canoe was so poorly sharpened that I returned it, except SMKW's return policy for budget RR knives is "keep it, we'll send you a replacement." Perfect: a donor knife I won't worry about messing up while I figure this process out. So I made it even more dull with some cardboard cutting and took a crack it with the WSPA.

To my delight, it worked just as advertised. :) My edge isn't going to win any awards, but it's sharp and I can already see ways to improve my process for the next sharpening session. This is a really clever sharpener, and I suspect it will more than justify its $50 price tag.

I'm not the greatest at sharpening, either. I want to eventually take a crack at a guided system.

Side note, I am a huge fan of Rough Rider knives. I hope their quality and fit and finish has not diminished. They may not always come very sharp, as you experienced, but they are usually great inexpensive knives with decent walk and talk.
