EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Morning.

Carrying these two today. I bought this Medford because it was advertised as “running on PB washers.” When I first received it, I though “this has to be one of the smoothest PB washered knives I own!”
Well, today I broke it down to re-blast and anodize it, so it wasn’t so “gold.” Guess what I found…it runs on bearings. Oh well.

Hey Sharp,

Seems like everyone prefers bearings. How come you wanted PB washers instead?
This piques my interest, because I myself have been drawn a little more to smooth running washers lately. I'm curious if we have the same reasonings!

I like PB washers for various reasons.

Fewer parts, easier disassembly/assembly and controlled opening and closing.
I find that to have a PB washered knife run smooth and effortlessly, the maker has to have very tight tolerances. I really appreciate makers who take the time to make things perfect.

PB washered action is satisfying to me…I know, I’m a little off. Haha. Most knives I own are on PB washers. :)

Oh! And hunting for PB washered knives only saves me a lot of $$. 🤣😂🤣😂

I get it man!

The budget knife, Ontario Rat, they used to have amazing action. PB washers (used to be). Side note, now they come with one nylon washer on one side. Mine has that and is not as smooth as my old Rats, and even has a little blade play. If it isn't broke, don't "fix" it..

Not all knives really need bearings. I'm starting to shy away from bearing knives myself. Probably just a phase for me, who knows! Haha.

I also really appreciate a smooth knife with PB washers. Washer knives used to be all you could get unless you went custom. I remember when the first big bearing production knife came out, the CRKT Ripple, and people on here were raving about it and really excited about bearings coming out. Those had the IKBS bearing system so I believe they were the first to make a mass produced bearing knife. I'm sure there was probably one or two less popular production knives that had them before that but that seemed like the big debut of bearing knives.

I really appreciate the tolerances needed to get that smooth as silk washer action also. I also like how they seem to be more adjustable to however you like your action. If you like a non-free falling blade you leave the washers just as they are except apply a little oil. If you want a more drop shut action you can lightly polish the washers a tad and you'll get that nice free falling hydraulic feeling action on many knives. Both are cool though.

You aren't alone, my niece doesn't like me either. Well, it's hard to say. She is 9 months old. She cries if I hold her for longer than a couple minutes.

Dude, have you played with the Rival guns? They're amazing. Way better than Nerf.
The Rival guns are nice, I have one. However, the nephews are not quite old enough at 9,8, and not quite 5. Only the 9 year old can cock it, the 8 year is terrified of it. Plus, it's hard enough to get them to wear the goggles for regular nerf.
