EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Two knives again today. As I've been going through my Sage collection sequentially, carrying IWB for my morning 2-mile walks, I went with the #4 today, adding my 100NS Tabargan for the afternoon while soldering window pans next door in the roomier, cooler woodshop, making for a well-balanced Throwback Thursday.

While the Sage 4 takes its design cues from the late Al Mar and is intended to pay homage to the front- (or mid-) lock featured on many of his knives, that mechanism was actually developed by the trio of Harvey McBurnette, Dick Dorough and W. T. Fuller, machinists all and co-workers who designed the lock for one-handed operation as Harvey had unfortunately lost one of his in an industrial accident. The Arizona Ironwood on mine has been rather dark from the beginning, but could probably use a bath at this point to restore some of its initial contrast.

I chose the Tabargan today after a bit of back-and-forth with Beowolf Agate Beowolf Agate over at the Cheburkov Channel, complimenting him on his handsome new Leader and providing a little background on early Shiro and Cheb models using the "axis" style bar locking mechanism.

I didn't feel like doing a throwback so I went with Thumb Stud Thursday. I haven't spent much time with this Towser K yet but I sure do like it. The action and lock-up are incredible. Taking it apart for "new knife orientation", I realized that it runs on multi-row bearings. That's a trend I wouldn't mind seeing in more budget knives.

The coffee is double-strength with extra cream, no sugar.
