EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

I almost traded away my beautiful large 21 pre-Idaho Bocote Sebenza yesterday for a Koenig Arius. The Seb is much loved but has been a drawer queen its entire life and I figured it was time to move her on for something I'd carry and use. I told my wife while we were hanging around the hospital for pre-op testing, showed her pictures of both, and she gave me that look and said how much she loved that Seb and didn't much care for the Aius. It wasn't that "I'll be pissed look", but the "I'll be sad" one. Irresistible. I've still got the CRK and the Arius sold quickly after I withdrew. The seller's happy (though I think he really wanted my knife), my wife is happy, and I do love my Bocote beauty.

I'm not sure I can make myself use it, though, as it's so pretty perfect. I've got 6 other large CRKs to put to work so I pocketed my 21 Micarta Insingo to use in the shop today and brought the queen along in her slip.

Nice knives & focus/composition on your shots well done.

Decisions decisions... For those wondering (from left to right) Protech TR-3 swat, PM2, ZT0562blk sprint, ZT0393, ZT 0804cf, and Microtech ultratech with factory blackout.

A big big thank you for listing what your knives are. As a newbie (and generally not smart person) I can’t recognize most knives and listing what I’m at looking makes research much easier.

Bocote has always been one of my favorite inlays.

IMO... you did the right thing and I think you’ll both continue to be happy with your decision as time goes on.
I’ve got three working class CRKs and three safe queens and I don’t see myself cutting any of them loose.

I actually have a very palpable sense of relief now that I didn't let my queen go and I almost feel that I have a new knife as a result. I've got a nice variety of larges with 5 of those 7 users, my StarTac having most recently joined that group after being babied for a couple years. I do carry my Inkosi natural Micarta, albeit gently, and it will eventually make it into the regular user category as well. My Snakewood Mnandi is used as a gentleman's knife, carried in its slip, and Queen Bocote can continue in her position ruling over the CRK drawer.

You're quite right about hanging on to your CRKs. This brief flirtation has made me sure that none of mine are going anywhere either. :D

After carrying a newly acquired LionSpy in my pocket for a couple of days, I picked out another cheap EDC to carry this evening and my eye landed on a Kershaw Crown (3160) that I also recently acquired.

This was the Crown version discontinued around 2014 but there is a Crown 2 (3150) which has a slightly shorter blade and has also been recently discontinued. However, the Crown (3160) is still available NIB from certain online retailers as well as on that big auction site that we all know where I got one.

When I first saw it I though it was a vintage knife because of it's classic gentleman's pocket knife good looks; polished 3" spear/drop point blade, polished steel bolsters, full liners and old school black micarta scales w/a polished deep pocket clip. Hard to believe that it only cost 12 bucks!

Yeah, it uses 8Cr13Mov blade steel and is made in China but so what! I think this cheap knife simply rocks as an unassuming but functional EDC.

You have inspired me to open up the safe and take these out this weekend! There is also a matching Mnandi!
