I agree. I find the steel to be really well balanced. I think it was just way before its time with carbide content and people didn't know how to handle it before.Felt the need to get some Maxamet out today. On a roll for pairs lately, it seems. This pair has reprofiles that I am quite proud of. I'm a bit crazy for sure, but Maxamet is one of my favorite steels to sharpen. For its crazy high wear resistance, it behaves very well on stones and consistently comes up super sharp for me. Both of these will treetop hair. It's not the steel for everybody or every situation, but I love the stuff.
