EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Pretty crappy day in a pretty crappy week, but having this guy in my pocket is a bright spot. :)

Such a gorgeous knife. I’d love to find a non-flipper version. There was one on the exchange a couple weeks ago but my hesitation led to a missed opportunity.

How is the action on this? I like the look, but heard some of the others had weak detents.
From what I've read they've redesigned it from the original. The original had some issues where I had to send one back to Buck because of because of the detent becoming too loose. On this new one it has a different feeling, much crisper for the break and stronger. Not sure I like the blade profile as much as drop point though.

Head in the clouds yesterday. Weather forecast was less than ideal, but I just had to get out, so I decided to do a lake hike rather than a viewpoint. What didn't occur to me, however, was the fact that this lake sits near the summit of the pass, so the forecast for clouds meant that I would be shrouded with clouds the entire day. Still a magical experience though, and sure beats the hell out of not being in the woods. All in all probably walked around 11 miles or so, and spent about 7 hours from leaving/returning to my vehicle.

From the high point of the ridge I had to go over, looking down into the basin of the lake (note: this pic was actually taken on the way out, as heading in visibility was about as far as that first tree.

Ran across this little feller on the way down, who was screaming his face off at my presence. I don't speak pika, but the conversation seemed to go as follows: "HEY!..HEY!..HEY!..THERE'S A MOFO COMING! HE'S OUT TO GET US ALL!" His buddies chirped out from the crevices and were all like, "Alright man, we get it. Chill. You're just alerting him to our presence." To which his response was, "Nah dawg, I got this. If I just sit here frozen perfectly still I'm pretty much invisible to him. Humans are so stupid". That was my interpretation at least ;) .

After exploring for a while, it was pushing 11:00, so I decided to go ahead and break fast. Wild berries with a handful of almonds from my pack seemed a good choice

I thought with time things might clear a little, so I decided to head up the trail to a little lake that sits beyond this one. I've never been there before, and once I get an idea to go further I can never resist anyway. It required first going over another ridge, across a makeshift log bridge at the outlet of the lake, and about two more miles of moderately steep elevation.

It turned out to be more of a pond, but an enchanting spot nonetheless. The fog/clouds actually seemed to fit this spot well. Plus I had the entire place to myself (as I did much of the day). Well worth the extra trek.

Back down at the main lake. It cleared a little intermittently, but never for long. Oh well, just an excuse to come back soon.

Great pictures , thanks for sharing.

Carrying my overpriced Cheburkov Strizh with overpriced steel that is no better than D2, and CF handles that are overpriced and worse than steel.
I knew you must be referring to something you saw posted in another thread and I had to dig a bit to find it. Once I read through it to post #9, I had no choice but to carry our CF Strizhs' younger, larger cousin with its crap steel and flimsy handle slabs. On the other hand, and despite it being such an overpriced POS, it is a perfect fit for Fully Carbon Fiber Foreign Framelock Flipper Friday.

I also paid the price for its over-rated action. Trying to pose the pic below was frustrating as every time I had the knife just right and reached for my phone it would drop shut and I'd have to start all over.

Nice setup yea got there! Is there any reason in particular that you keep your light and knife clipped together with that ring? I was thinking maybe you'd clip the light to your pocket and then you could get to the knife easier. Just curious though, I'm just always looking for better ways to carry everything that I keep in my pockets.

I feel like you might feel like I'm targeting you with a "heart" every time you post, and you do post great knives, it's just that specific DM knife will always elicit that reaction from me, dang that is a knife knife! I hope to experience something similar with the new series, speaking of, you just gave me an idea.... how do you like the scale patterns on that, the "jimping" if that is what you'd call it?

Z Zeroedin Get well soon!
