Happy New Year friends! I've always loved New Year's day, and being southern the traditional meal always brings back fond memories for me. Rolled out of bed this morning, fixed my coffee, and fried up a mess of bacon to save the grease as one of the secret ingredients to the collard greens I would be making for dinner (the other secret ingredient being simmering them in wine and chicken stock rather than water). For the rest of the day I just hung out with the young'uns, watched football, listened to some music, and tended to the food. Made some pulled pork and of course black-eyed peas to accompany the greens. Some local Bourbon (port finished) and grapes for dessert.

Here's to a great year ahead! :cool:
