Put a new edge on the Native 5 today and my new MBK Mini Old Guard arrived also. The MOG is a real lookerv with the Wharncliffe blade shape. Can't wait to use it next month.

Thanks! It's a really nice design and feels really good. They did a great job on the grind as well. It feels thin behind the edge.I’m digging that MOG! Nice.
Definitely want to brush up on your mushroom identification before putting that knife to good use. Some curve back (hawkbill) knives that have caught my eye and sometimes my wallet have been the Cold Steel Tiger Claw, Spyderco Tasman, Honey Badger Claw, and the Opinel Traditional #10 Billhook.Got my first back curved knife.
PS: any good quality back-curved models are also recommended?

When I was younger my primary bushcraft fire starting technique was a can of gas, but things have changed a lot. Mostly the price of gas.
My latest AB Gecko arrived today to round out my collection of these. I’m really diggin’ the unique wood scales on this one.

Usually all it takes is one loss and lesson learned . I lost my first spyderco many years ago and I still have the empty box in my drawer as a friendly reminder .I feel for you, brother. Bummer when you lose a good knife. Lost a 940 a while back and still find myself poking around the apartment looking for it, though I'm sure I lost it elsewhere. Now I'm way more conscious of where my EDC is at all times.
