I really like canvas Micarta, but it picks up oil from my hands, darkens and can become splotchy. Before the canvas turns too much I wash it with warm water, bar soap, and a medium stiff nail brush, rinsing thoroughly and using a hair dryer on medium to lose all the water inside and out. That brings it back most all the way to new. No oiling Micarta for me either.

Dawn dishwashing liquid is specifically formulated for oil and grease. It is the best "soap" on the market today for eating up oil. Try it instead of hand soap
