Walked today with my daughter in the forest near St. Petersburg.

There is a completely restored wooden church with a bell tower, a refectory, and a dormitory for monks.

There is also a museum of wooden construction.

In the forest, along the bed of a frozen river, cross-country skiing takes place.

Thanks! I intend to. As much as I've fallen for the glorious outdoors of the PNW in summer, the dreary short days in the winter there really take their toll. This reprieve is much needed.

It is said, you never how good something was until it is gone. I spent a couple years between Bradenton, Fort Myers and Homestead working but never really took time to explore. Always enjoy your photos as they show things I missed

Many thanks for the kind words. Visiting with family so far has already been a joy. I plan to get out as much as possible when I get back over to the coast in a couple of days, which I know will rejuvenate my soul. My son (17) will be flying down and joining me as well for the last week of the month because he has a break from school, and I'm sure he'll want to make the most of his time outdoors and keep me pretty busy too. I remember years ago pulling him around on the kayak, now I have trouble keeping up with him
