Other coast actually. Indian River Lagoon, near Ponce Inlet. This spot is a little further into the Bay, still brackish but not quite as salty as other areas nearby, hence the gators.

You and me both. This spot has some gators, but I've done alot of paddling in the St. Johns River area as well, and that's where I've really encountered them. They're everywhere in there, and some BIG ones. When I go there I forgo the kayak for the canoe 😉

In this spot honestly what I'd be concerned with is the Bull Sharks. You wouldn't expect them much this far up into the shallows of the bay, but I've seen them surprise people fishing by jumping up and snatching their catch just as they're pulling it into the boat.
Totally agree…Bull sharks are no joke and can tolerate fresh water rather well…I believe they’ve been caught as far up the Mississippi R. as the St. Louis area and all through canals and Intercoastal Waterways in FL. They are many reports of bulls vs gators too 😳🥺
