The great tenor saxophonist Wayne Shorter passed away yesterday after a long career navigating through several sea changes in jazz while always staying true to the music, innovating, and never compromising his search for true expression. The dude could sure play, was a member of or led some great bands, and was one of my all time favorites.

I grew frustrated trying to spin one of my favorite of Wayne's albums today as my trusty Arcam CD player has become much less so lately and I opened it up to clean and lubricate the transport rail. Unfortunately, I had no luck resolving its intermittent skipping and will take it to perhaps the last audio repair guy in this area Monday after describing the issue to him this afternoon.

Meanwhile, I had my Leader Lightweight on me for Carbon Fiber Foreign Flipper Friday.

Went fishing today. Started out really tough, but after 2 or 3 hours of trying to figure things out, I started catching and ended up catching as many as I ever have.

Went fishing today. Started out really tough, but after 2 or 3 hours of trying to figure things out, I started catching and ended up catching as many as I ever have.

These two today, plus my SAK. I'm pretty sure that I don't like carrying 2 nice knives instead of 1 nice one and 1 beater.

The Spartan has been in my pocket for close to 2 weeks, and is breaking in - can quick flick it open with my thumb or reverse flick from the factory, but still takes 4-5 shakes to close with gravity.



Swapped out the Benchmade Shootout today, but will probably bring that back asap to have a beater knife with me. The Zaan is finally broken in... It will never drop shut, but I can quick-flick it open with my thumb now.
