EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Well, after oogling the Atom since it was released and with the help of all you folks who posted excellent things about it here, I have had this in pocket since it’s arrival. It’s cut zipties (a lot of them), washer drain hose and a bunch of other random stuff. I’m extremely impressed and super happy I decided to buy one.

Thanks enablers!

Seriously, you have posted some absolute stunners the last little while, and I’m a touch jealous of all the beautiful knives with hamons you own. 😉
Very, very impressive collection. Thank you for sharing.

Pena Trapper for Ti Tuesday

I figured I'd be in the sheetmetal shop at some point today as I had a slider pan to make (I did) and maybe in the the woodshop too (I wasn't), so I carried an old favorite work knife, making this at least a half-Ti Tuesday. I kinda think of this as my first CRK (it wasn't) as my first was a small that didn't stick around (too small) and my second was a polished LNIB, pre-Idaho Bocote inlay that became a drawer queen (too pretty). This one (my third) went to work from the get-go and was in my pocket pretty much every day for at least the first year (truth). She's got a lotta scratches and trails from a lotta hours on the job and she's lost a fair amount of steel from more than a few sharpenings, though there's still some evidence forward of the belly of the way too overly aggressive re-profile she came with. Still, I love this one and and we'll definitely remain lifetime companions (at least mine).

So, for Part II here--we've finished our supper and I'm distractedly scrolling through today's posts, my wife walks by and says, "What's that, a goat?" Of course I only saw the CRK with my Knife Knut tunnel vision, though I did look again and confirm the goat. Anyway, great minds and all, and I couldn't resist another pic and post....

The 1st step is admitting You have a problem 😳🤣

1st step is realized and complete. What’s the second step? 😂

CPE_Knives CPE_Knives has a sweet Field Knife with hamon for sale in the exchange right now and I’ve been holding off…trying not to crack….I cannot believe it hasn’t sold yet!

Yes, yes, I have a problem. Lol. And a solution. ;)😂

Well the solution of course is to give-in and Buy Buy Buy my Friend 🤑🤑

That is good story--thanks for sharing, Coleman. It's a cool thing when something someone else has customized that you particularly admire falls into your lap. My first Tabargan was like that--just gorgeous--anodized with custom marbled CF scales and backspacer. It was really too pretty perfect to carry and use and I stupidly let it go after a few years to fund something else. I'm glad for the other knife, but regret it to this day.

Similarly, the guy who bought my Tabargan also let it go, then spent considerable time and money custom replicating the knife he also missed. He finally got it done, but got jerked around so long by the notorious scale maker that he sold that one too to get the bad taste out of his mouth. Reads like the Cursed Tale of the Tabargan.

My handsomely enhanced Firetac came from an interim owner here who got it as is from AZCK. I'd seen and admired it here and grabbed it up off the Exchange when he put it up for sale. He soon regretted doing so, much like my earlier transaction, and wrote to let me know he'd buy it back any time. Sadly for him, I won't be repeating my earlier mistake.

Your mention of BilboBaggins BilboBaggins had me searching his posting history as I recall him, but haven't seen him around either. He seems a rather sporadic poster with large gaps in his history, so perhaps he can only take dealing with this bunch of Knife Knuts in small doses. I too hope he's OK.
Nice logo! You’ve been absolutely killing it, Travis!

This Kapara mod was done by Josh at REK, you are correct sir. However, I cannot take credit for this build. Even though it would be the little things I would ask for, I didn’t ask for this build.

The story behind this one though…that is a good one. This Kapara was commissioned by BilboBaggins BilboBaggins . I had mentioned way back when (a number of years ago) that it was absolutely beautiful and if he ever let it go, I would be interested. He ended up pm-ing me a long while later. He was ready to pass it on to a new home.

I will never forget his kindness and have been hoping all is well as he hasn’t posted here in a while.

Thank you for the kind words ChazzyP ChazzyP
Hey fellas. Still out here. Glad to see the REK kapara is still around!!! I loved working with Josh on that knife. Haven't had much time for knives lately. It's been a bit of the old "life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." Nothing catastrophic.

So happy to see you around again, even if just for a short while! Glad to hear things are going well. 😎

I realized that after posting--just didn't get it framed right. I quoted thinking your pic would show up above, but your attachment method doesn't do that, similar to my results with the current method I'm using. Of course one could click on your attachment link in the quote, if it's not too much trouble.... 😏
