That is good story--thanks for sharing, Coleman. It's a cool thing when something someone else has customized that you particularly admire falls into your lap. My first Tabargan was like that--just gorgeous--anodized with custom marbled CF scales and backspacer. It was really too pretty perfect to carry and use and I stupidly let it go after a few years to fund something else. I'm glad for the other knife, but regret it to this day.
Similarly, the guy who bought my Tabargan also let it go, then spent considerable time and money custom replicating the knife he also missed. He finally got it done, but got jerked around so long by the notorious scale maker that he sold that one too to get the bad taste out of his mouth. Reads like the Cursed Tale of the Tabargan.
My handsomely enhanced Firetac came from an interim owner here who got it as is from AZCK. I'd seen and admired it here and grabbed it up off the Exchange when he put it up for sale. He soon regretted doing so, much like my earlier transaction, and wrote to let me know he'd buy it back any time. Sadly for him, I won't be repeating my earlier mistake.
Your mention of
BilboBaggins
had me searching his posting history as I recall him, but haven't seen him around either. He seems a rather sporadic poster with large gaps in his history, so perhaps he can only take dealing with this bunch of Knife Knuts in small doses. I too hope he's OK.
