EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Back firmly on topic, it was easy enough to put one Griptilian away this morning and grab the one right next to it for today's carry. This is my sole stock knife out of the 6 Grips I presently own, but then it's an upgraded model-- the 551-1--with G10 scales, contrasting G10 liners, and open-back construction.

Nice. I used to have the sheepsfoot model.

The best AUS-8 heat treatment I've ever had.

Unlike 8Cr13Mov, AUS-8 can be a surprisingly good budget steel with the right heat treatment.

They have been doing that steel right for decades!!!!!! On par with Bos\Buck 420HC heat treat......

The Bos heat treatment on 420HC is famous for showing how much something like that can matter. The AUS-8 out there with good heat treatments is the next level up. To take another step up from there, WE does a similarly good heat treatment on the 9Cr18Mov in their Civivi, Sencut, and Ferrum Forge knives.

I wish they could do as well with all their steels.

Thanks, Chuck. That 550 version is sweet too. My wife has had one of those for quite a few years and it's one of her favorites. I hadn't realized, until I just got hers out to compare that it's a flat grind. Until now, I thought the 550-1's were HG like all the old 154CM's, which I kinda prefer.
