Cheating a bit...
Forgot I even had this laminated ZDP-189 Baby Jess Horn. It's never been carried and thought I'd change that today, just too nice though so I'll put it back in the box. Some Spyderco collector will appreciate this one someday. 👍

That sure is a beauty and one I was unfamiliar with as I came to Spyderco's late. That made me sit up and take notice after our recent exchange with its amazing similarity to the Al Mar Talon and SERE blade grinds.

I researched an Al Mar-Jess Horn connection a few years back, even posted up an inquiry with no luck.
Our transaction is what made me dig out the Baby Horn though.😉

The best AUS-8 heat treatment I've ever had.

Moki AUS-8 is great stuff. My two desk knives--traditional style, bolstered Eagle and Falcon--have incredibly sharp edges. In fairness they have not been tested much as they really only cut paper. How's the edge retention on your UL? Now that I've got the Eagle HD I've wanted for some time (huge thanks, again, to Barman1 Barman1 ) I'm gonna keep an eye out for an FM Co UL, maybe in FFG just for a change, as my others are all Talons.

Nice knife and nice pic, as always.
A lot of Al Mar love on the Forum lately !
Well, yeah, and deservedly so, but we're definitely talking about real Al Mars, and not the more recent iterations. Change is inevitable, I suppose, and I guess I show my age wishing some things could stay the same, but changing great knives to budget AO flippers in Chinese D2 and 8Cr13MoV, well, not so much....

Fabulous. He regularly cuts tape and corrugated board in my warehouse. If the knife loses its razor sharpness, two or three strokes on the leather strip with white dialux is sufficient. And with a knife you can shave your forearm again.

Oh yeah. I had one of the new ones in my hands. I think modern Chinese models are a shame for such a glorious name.
