Full transparency, the Skaha scales were orange when I got it. You're looking at a (regretted) black Rit dye job. You can still see the orange grain through the black if it's angled it in the light properly.

I seem to be on a bit of a Benchmade roll lately, yesterday's Hinderer carry notwithstanding. It's a Throwback Thumbstud Thursday with my de-assisted, M390 581 Barrage. This one's a bit handle proud, but it certainly affords a secure grip and has been lightened up and become better balanced by removing the backspacer and lock along with the spring, yielding an open back with the addition of simple standoffs. A little cosmetic enhancement was achieved by adding black bolster screws and thumb studs, the latter compliments of BMK.
