Do you remember when Benchmade got sued by spyderco about an opening hole? Pepperidge Farm remembers...

I have heard of that. Pepperidge Farm better watch out for Sal themselves--I occasionally find a round hole in their bread that could be used to deploy a slice from the loaf.

Ironic, isn't it? Lest that leaves you feeling too conflicted, B, here's one to take you back to your prior approval. This knife has a red, white, and blue palette on one side with USA front and center over the American-made steel designation on the other. It's also a perfect carry for MP1 Micarta Monday.

Haha. So I believe the way it shook out was Benchmade lost, but not totally. It ended up that spyderco couldn't claim rights to a hole, but they do hold a patent in the hole distance from the pivot...or something.

I'm a sucker for a sweet set of aftermarket Ti scales especially on my Spydies. I found this set for my Sage 5 Lightweight. Bulked it up by over an ounce which only made it better as far as I'm concerned.

This is on my belt today while cleaning up a Plantain patch. Pretty nice kit for hammering away on stuff.

The edge was pretty burred, but a few swipes on the Onion Worksharp belt took care of that.

More fun than a movie ticket and popcorn!

Without getting to deep into the history of spyderco and the hole…I believe the “hole” is a trademark, not patented.

And in order to keep that trademark, every knife they make must have the hole.
