I'd be curious to see how it fairs after a good session on some stones. I had a Manix 2 in S110V do that too, but after a new edge was ground in it's been pretty stable. Same deal with a Kershaw Blur in S30V.I did the unthinkable yesterday: I used my prized Endura in 20CV like an average, non-knife-nut person. Which is to say I used it like a fool and paid the price.

I needed to add some weep holes to a tin pot I was using to re-plant my Thai chilies. All I had on me was my Endura, so I stabbed the pot, heard a light crinkling sound, and discovered chips out of the edge. I'm a little surprised at how chippy the steel was, i expected a little rolling, however the damage was 100% my fault. So, until I have time to sharpen out the chips, I chose to carry a different Spyder with a steel renowned for its toughness.

Edit to add: I definitely applied some lateral pressure when I wiggled the blade out of the tin, which is probably responsible for most of the damage. Again, 100% my fault.
Crocs sighted!@Gary W. Graley this one’s for you View attachment 2193829

I read that comment too, and while I have no doubt Sal is the content expert, there is certainly some sort of phenomenon that is rectified after a good and thorough sharpening session. That's my hope. I've seen Sal Glesser post that he doesn't ascribe to the "burned factory edge" phenomenon, but I'm optimistic that I'll get positive results after one or two good sharpening sessions.
How do you like itFinally picked one up. Carrying this evening.
Location of the hole can make all the differenceHaha. So I believe the way it shook out was Benchmade lost, but not totally. It ended up that spyderco couldn't claim rights to a hole, but they do hold a patent in the hole distance from the pivot...or something.
Crazy pattern, looks really goodI'm a sucker for a sweet set of aftermarket Ti scales especially on my Spydies. I found this set for my Sage 5 Lightweight. Bulked it up by over an ounce which only made it better as far as I'm concerned.View attachment 2194835View attachment 2194836
If they made them in steel toe I prolly wear them to workI'd be curious to see how it fairs after a good session on some stones. I had a Manix 2 in S110V do that too, but after a new edge was ground in it's been pretty stable. Same deal with a Kershaw Blur in S30V.
Hopefully that will help a bit.
Crocs sighted!
Haha! I carried the growler a week straight when i first got it which says something considering I normally switch up my EDCs daily. Hope you like it!
