EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Morning.

No theme or special purpose today--just a good opportunity on a light duty day for some orange goodness carrying the Al Mar Eagle HD in laminated ZDP189 which I'm still keeping pretty.

To this point I hadn't looked into the "overcoat" of the blade's primary steel and just now did a quick search to identify it as 420J2. A little more searching found it's a high chromium/low carbon budget steel whose primary attributes are extreme corrosion resistance coupled with great toughness and high impact resistance. While ZDP189 is also surprisingly corrosion resistant, it possesses very high hardness, which yields a sharp, durable edge, but is proportionally lacking in toughness. I had thought going in the top layer steel would primarily add corrosion resistance, but, as that seems unneeded in this case, toughness seems to be its primary contribution, though it would seem to help largely with full blade breakage and not at all with chippiness at the edge.
