For someone who's a self-professed bigger folder guy, I've been flirting quite a bit with smaller and/or lighter knives lately. I think that's somewhat due to the warmer weather--not real hot, but muggy here on Cape--which has me hanging out more in b-ball shorts for coolness and comfort. I haven't taken on much of any work lately either, so the longer, heftier blades I generally prefer in the shops or on job sites have been carried less frequently.
Today I went with my BMK 707 Sequel, the successor to the 705, companion to the much-loved 710. This one's been modded with D.O.A.T. CF scales and weighs in at 2.375 oz. It's just a little smaller than the Strizh, but a taste heavier due to its full, though skeletonized liners. While the Strizh gives me a more solid three-and-a-half finger grip, the Sequel leaves my pinky with nothing to do, making this one more of a light EDC than a knife for serious work. Still, it's a nice little piece that will handle everyday cutting tasks and is an easy carry IWB in light, pocketless shorts.
