EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

We were gonna finish the right hand side of my roof today, but it rained quite a bit overnight and it was pretty slick up there so we took the day off from being at the peak of a thirty-foot-long slope almost thirty feet above grade. These old bones can always use the rest from that as I really have no business up there anymore and the hot-for-New England weather had me giving up after only a couple hours up top yesterday, my 20-year-younger buddy continuing on for a while longer then tightening things up for the anticipated rain.

I'd picked a work knife for Ti Tuesday and stuck with it despite the opportunity to switch to my other more decorative SHF Northwest Coast edition after opting out of roofing today.

I mentioned the other day my wife saying it was OK for me to leave my SharpMaker and a little associated gear on the kitchen table, then plopping down her AXIS Mini Stryker in front of me as a sort of Quid Pro Quo. I also mentioned her role as something of a serial knife-edge abuser and it wasn't 24 hours later that she used that knife to cut the bottom out of a trashcan-sized plastic planter full of dirt, afterwards leaving the knife again next to my place at the table. After dutifully re-sharpening--it actually wasn't that bad though it was scratched to sh*t--she gave me one of her oriental tea trays to hold my stuff so that it might be both more compactly stored and easily moved for tidying up.

I've recently really gotten more into the SharpMaker for easy touchups and light re-sharpenings, with the EdgePro reserved for more extensive work and re-profiles. It's also nice to have it all conveniently opened up and left that way, and I now find myself at least lightly hitting almost every day's carry either before or after use. Most of my knives are at 20 DPS and those reprofiled or steeper have, or could use, a similar micro-bevel, though the 15 DPS side is there as an option too. The SHF really didn't need anything today, but after posing it here I hit its micro-bevel with the browns and stock whites for a huge difference just coz I could.

Maybe I'll add my short green-loaded strop and the super-fine ceramic triangles to this small accumulation too...

I feel your pain, I’m pretty sure I died twice cutting grass on Saturday.

Titanium Tuesday. New front tires for the shenanigator. I bought the same ones for the rear at a local shop but they were WAY more expensive than horizon hobby so I ordered the same for the front, nearly half price. Just on the rear these have much better grip in grass especially on 3S lipo so higher speed. I blew a stock tire Saturday, we'll see how much a difference new tires at all 4 corners makes.

At this point I can’t quote everyone who’s shared their struggles with addiction, but kudos to all who have shared their experiences. Stay the course. In the off chance it might help someone, I’ve got 26 years of sobriety behind me. As a teen and through my 20’s I lived at the bottom of a bottle. It ain’t always easy, but it can be done….and it sure as shit is worth it.

Kettleman Kettleman It struck home with me too for sure. Thanks brother, may the wind be at your back! And congrats on your continued accomplishments!

Swp321 Swp321 Thanks bro, I appreciate it! Congrats on your two years coming up, that's a huge milestone! Hell yea.

M maxjeg Thank you my friend, I appreciate that! And I do love me a dog, of any sort! That's a sweet Presidio too that looks like it's seen some good pocket time. We have berries over here that look extremely similar to your Chokeberries, except from a different looking bush. They were all over the property of the 5 acres in the country where I grew up!

Ya know, this community is a good bunch! 🤙

Tires are going back. :(

Second run and the foam is coming out of the rears. The original tires from Team Associated lasted almost two minutes mths, on a combination of grass, asphalt, gravel, and dirt.

I like the design of the tires but they are poorly made. Going to try some Pro-line trenchers. I want something a little more aggressive than the stock ones.
