Today's entry in the illustrious (?) Owned One, Sold It, Missed It, Bought It Again Club -- the OOSIMIBIAC, rolls right off the tongue -- is my second SOCOM Elite.

On the one hand it always feels like I'm doing it wrong, but on the other hand I kind of like this part of the collecting journey. Carrying my SnG these past couple months has shown me that I love having a full-size, lighter-weight alternative to my XM-18 3.5, to the point where that combo is likely going to fire my last small knife. If I need small and ultralight, I just pocket a slipjoint; I never reach for a small folder in the morning.

So I'm trying something similar with larger knives: one that works well in shorts or jeans (this one), and one that works well in jeans but not shorts (my XM-24). There are plenty of lighter 4" blades than the SOCOM, but this beast is light enough (5.1 oz.) and pockets amazingly well.
