Hey BD_01 . I was leisurely strolling through our local REI (usually a costly mistake) when I noticed a near-mint Hobie sitting in the "discounted" section. Upon inquiry, turns out previous owner dropped it from top of the car and disintegrated the rudder and returned it to the store (wtf? Didnt know you could just do that after damage). 3300$ -> 900$. Naturally my pathetic ass couldn't resist the killer deal, so brought it home and JBWelded the rudder and retied the rudder lines...there's a bunch of storms recently so couldn't test it out, but can't wait!

I had my Hobie Compass out on Lake McDonald (GNP) this afternoon. Perfect weather…but it’s the first time I’ve been skunked since I bought the kayak (July).

DPx Hest Mr. DP for a….wait, let me check my calendar…..Thursday.

On a brief aside, unlike many of the Hest models that are made in the US, this particular version is made by Lionsteel (Italy). Not saying that’s a good thing or bad thing, I just find it interesting. No idea why they outsourced this one.
