EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

So many knives in these photos look pristine for knives that are carried. They look like they were bought more for the photo op than use (but I do like looking at the pictures!!). I should be quick to add that save for my SAK, my pocket clip knives don't see a lot of action either.

I posted in this thread about three years ago about what I was carrying then (SAK Ambassador, Benchmade Mini-Grip or Bugout 535BK). Three years later, I now pocket carry the now discontinued SAK 74mm Executive (I liked the file better and don't we all need an orange peeler?). The Bugout 535BK is still my most of the time choice for pocket clip carry (such a good EDC) but back in 2020-21, I added a Benchmade Mini-Presidio II 575-1 and that gets carried a couple times a week, especially on country walks out where I live. Lastly, I've had a full size Griptillian from back in their 154CM days but it'd always been in the glove box of my rig and rarely looked at, much less carried. Now, it's on my keys, wallet, sunglasses, knife table by the door. I do like how the handle fits my hand and have carried it a bit recently. I could take photos but these are common, everyday knives whose photos are all over the net.

For many years, before discovering the Mini-Grips whenever they were first brought out, my EDC was the SAK Classic (had one of those in my pocket daily from the early-mid 1970's) and in 1980, found the Buck 501 Squier. This one was confirmed to be 1979-80 by Buck's knife historian (which helped because the years can get lost). While that particular 501 with burgundy Micarta scales and stainless steel bolsters is now retired, I bought a second in 2000 and used it a LOT during our RV travels with our kids. I bought a third in 2013 which has had lighter use as I just wanted a clean example. The 501 is a near perfect, elegant design for a sub-3" blade locking folder. Durable, easy to sharpen with most anything, fits the hand, and doesn't look remotely tactical.

Generic photo for any who might not be familiar with the 501:

In my experience, knives can go a long time of being carried without really showing much use if the blade is uncoated. It also helps if you have a synthetic handle material, as certain finishes, such as anodized aluminum or Ti tend to show use the fastest imo. I'm definitely not the hardest user around these parts, as I just don't run into the need to cut things that would damage the finishes very often, and if I do I'll use a tool more designed for that job, or that's inexpensive and I don't care about as much. I carried this Scallion for at least 3, maybe 4 years as the only knife I ever carried and this is what it looks like. Although my phone camera doesn't pick up on scratches much, except for any given 1 inch section that I focus it on. Got these two out for the day though. Happy saturday gentlemen! And also to the few lady members around!
