I got really busy Sunday through most of today and didn't get to any knife pics or posting. I basically flamed out on finishing up the last two days of Cheburkathon and then failed to post what USPS finally got to me Monday. I did get out sorta too late today for make-up pics and they're kinda dark, but here's my Strizh Sunday carry choice for 6 games site directing and clean-up in the gym and Monday's finale with the Leader the Last of the seven Cheburkov carries in a row.
These two share somewhat similar appearances despite significant differences in size, deployment, and pivot systems. They also share Cheburkov's clever linerless liner lock construction with their CF scales basically supplying the support for their handles which are more than substantial enough for reasonably rigorous use.
Monday's holiday-paced mail delivery brought me a knife that I'd been interested in giving a spin, but, like many, I had not been interested in parting with its full retail price. I stumbled across this one on the Exchange LNIB for about 40% off and you may recall me
alluding to that in these pages early last week. I've long been a Benchmade guy, though I've largely stuck with mostly the older, classic models, and over the years have owned, and still do have, a lot of them. This is one of the few newer models that really caught my eye .
I knew the Narrows was thin and light, but was surprised when un-boxing how stupidly light and ridiculously thin it actually was. It took a full day plus adding a tail to get used to it and it's definitely an EDC sorta knife, but it's very solid and not at all insubstantial. The Ti handle slabs are hardly over a sixteenth inch thick, milled both outside and more deeply within, and still don't show any flex. The M390 blade is also hardly over a s'teenth, wicked TBE, and just flew through a cardboard box today. The action, on BB's, is smooth and quick and the new take on the sliding bar lock (is it still an AXIS?) with torsion springs is pretty cool. I don't know if this one is really
me, but it is really kinda cool.
