EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Small fixed blades were a running theme for me in 2023. This Rusev Rusev Unbound Knives “Cargo” ranks as one of my favorite grabs of the year. It also marked the beginning of my foray into the dangerous and extremely slippery slopes known our “KnifeMaker’s Market”.

Figured it was an appropriate carry for the first week of the new year.

Hello BF!

I switched up to a Micarta work user today as I'll be at a task vaguely along those lines in a little bit--picking up some softwood framing scrap from my friend/client's job site in the next town.

Our mass heater was designed, much like a traditional Russian fireplace, for hotter, faster fires as those were necessitated by the lack of substantial firewood on the steppes and extended flues and exposed masonry shells extract maximum heat from high BTU conflagrations and hold it longer in their shells to radiate and warm the living space. Most of my work for many years was house framing and rafter, joist, and wall-framing tails were plentiful on a daily basis. Now that I no longer do much if any of that anymore, I'll scrounge my friends' jobs and whatever I might produce around here myself as the fairly plentiful hardwood we harvest works best with at least a mix of spruce/pine/fir lumber.

This was my first Griptilian, bought at a locally-owned feed, grain, outdoor goods store near us in Vermont as a birthday present to myself. I'm not big into serrations, but this one, with its Igorded OD scales, was a frequent companion at work back in the day, and the combo blade does come in handy sometimes.
