Lucky fella! I've got a few other patterns that ease the pain 😁

Well now I don't feel so over the top. I had two SFH's--one an all stonewashed work user and the other my beautiful NorthWest Coast Edition--and just bought another off the Exchange. I had fallen in love a while back with the look of Z Zeroedin 's knife, a 3.25 SHF in smooth gray anodized Ti with brass ano'd hardware and a Dama blade. I almost pulled the trigger on one at the Spartan site a couple times, but that finish scheme is only available stock in the smaller knife and I decided that it was just not gonna be a fit for these thick old arthritic carpenter's mitts.

So....last week abbazaba abbazaba posted his full size SHF for sale, one that he'd had made-to-order from Spartan in just that finish, but with a stonewashed S45VN blade, and I could just feel all the restraint flow out of me. I did let it sit there overnight, as I often do when trying to resist, but it was still there in the morning and the rest is history.

If it's any justification, my all- stonewashed is S35VN, the NW Coast has the old-style pivot, and this one has the new-style with integral over-travel stop, so mine are three different gens. ;)

BTW, nice bunch of SHF's there, norcalAF norcalAF !

Beautiful knife! SHF is my favorite platform obviously, the northwest pattern is awesome, I dig the frog on em! eventually I'll get a Damascus version, but the stonewash has me captivated for now! If you want something a bit easier on arthritic hands, check out LG, they are extremely smooth and most of em are pretty lightweight.

Thanks, friend! I've got a lot of knives by really good makers and the SHF is right up there in my hierarchy. I've thought about getting an all black or black-handled one with a Dama blade. I see they're PVD coated and I wonder how that would hold up as I hate the look of scratched up black blades and slabs. My AXIS Stryker 908-1501 is Cerakoted, on the other hand, and has held up very well. Their stonewash is awesome, though, as they must add some metal to their medium to give their coarse finish that sparkle.

I would like to have more LG, but at this point only have his Wilson Combat Eagle--a knife that's very dear to me. It's got plenty of height to its handle for a solid grip despite being incredibly thin and easy in pocket for a good-sized knife. It's an older model with Teflon washers and was something of a balky flipper until I discovered after numerous disassemblies that one washer had just a tiny roll in its edge. I got it flattened out and it's smooth as glass and flips beautifully now.

For my grip, that's part of the reason I prefer larger knives--some length plus girth and/or height works for me as I can't quite close either hand after working construction for the better part of 50 years. That's part of why the Spartan Harsey Folder is a real favorite. :D
