EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Full Immunity today!

I finally got my little copper job done today, making a two-piece copper cap for a sloped triple window pediment. I grabbed what used to be a regular work user that still gets the occasional turn in the rotation. This was my first Grip, bought as a birthday present to myself at a large, locally owned feed & grain, outdoor outfitter in the larger town a couple over from our remote camp in Vermont. These were also my first set of aftermarket scales, made in our friend J jfk1110 's favorite material, though this canvas Micarta often reads more brown than OD depending on the light.

Beautiful knife. I wouldve left that one warm and safe at home and used a Kershaw to do the work lol
1 question ... please forgive me ... ☹️
for the cardboard ... y use one of your good knives on it? 😳
wouldn't a box/utility knife like a Stanely with replaceable blades be better?
Cardboard is hard on any knife with all the sand ("silica") and other contaminates in it.
Why dull a good knife, then lose blade steel sharpening it back up?
A box of 100 Stanely blades costs a lot less than a new good knife. Heck, Ten boxes of 100 Stanely blades would still be under $100 (USD).

I always used a box cutter on cardboard and most other nasty jobs (scoring and cutting drywall, for example) saving my "good" knives for less destructive tasks.
I've had that F95T since I bought it new from Russia in Oct '16. It took a couple years of light carry, but I started using it for work as it's such a sturdy and useful knife that it's seems silly not to employ it for tasks that it's so good at. In all those years I've had to sharpen it maybe 4 or 5 times and never needed to take off much at all as it's nice a thin behind the edge. Shiro M390 has a great balance of toughness and edge retention and a little stropping from time to time brings it right back.

Now, whether if it's on a job site or in the sheetmetal or wood shop there's always a Stanley utility replaceable-blade razor knife close at hand. For most construction or fabricating jobs it's the tool of choice for rolled goods, insulation, drywall, strap cutting, shingle trimming, metal scoring, and the like. As far as cardboard boxes go, I usually cut them down along the four corners first, push cutting or slightly sawing with a sharp, long-bladed knife which flies right down through it. A "box cutter" just gets lost or hung up at that angle. If I'm in the sheetmetal shop, I use the Pexto 3 foot stomp shear to cut up flat cardboard if it'll fit under the hold-down. Otherwise, I'll use the razor knife for any on-the-flat cutting. (And...before you ask about dulling the shear with cardboard, it was made in 1965 and used extensively in a ductwork shop before ending up in my basement sheetmetal shop around 30 years ago. It's never been sharpened to my knowledge, and still cuts steel, aluminum, and copper just fine.)

FWIW, I do have another newer, later gen F95R which is kept nicer and used more lightly in an EDC role. I have a lot of premium knives, but lots of them go to work or get employed somewhat harder than others as they're just too good as tools not to be used that way. ☺️

What’s global warming?
Prelude to the (long overdue) next ice age, according to more than a few climatologists, from what I hear. 🤔🤨🙄

Didn't we have "The next Ice Age is HERE!" scare back in the mid 1970's?

I remember 'TIME MAGAZINE' had a few articals on "How to Survive The Upcoming Ice Age' during the Nixon Administration. 🙄

No doubt the Ice Age scare was by the same moron (air quotes) "experts" that claim "Global Warming" is caused by Humans ...

That makes as much sense as saying "Dinosaurs were responsible for the last Ice Age!!!"
They ignore the fact that this planet as had natural cooling and heating cycles throught its history. 🙄

It was kinda a tongue in cheek joke. :)

I think we’ve made the turn toward spring and can say goodbye to what little cool weather we were fortunate enough to enjoy this winter. 82 degrees and a bit humid taking the dog for a late afternoon walk….with an AB Gecko on hand, you know, just in case we stumble upon any 12-foot gators or pythons.

Like I always say, you can never have too much blade on ya’. Go big or stay home….that’s my motto.
