EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Had flights booked, rental car reserved and our bags all packed to head up to Blade Show last week….but had to bail on everything last minute.

Long story short, I did my shopping via text with some of the makers I was really looking forward to meeting. Would’ve been my first show…and my first opportunity to actually handle a selection of knives in person. We don’t have an actual knife store anywhere near us. In fact, I’ve never actually been to a knife shop either. So much to learn, so many things left on my bucket list.

Anyway, I digress….but then I always do. This W5 Midi from Riaan Manser was the first to show up from GA. I’m actually carrying it right now outside the local UPS hub waiting for a driver to return with another inbound I’ve been desperately trying to intercept today before it gets returned to the sender…..but that’s a story for another day.

Checking out A Ardbeg CS 's post Thursday of his CF/S90V PM2 got me thinking about and subsequently pocketing my KW Exclusive CF/S90V Military today. After a little thought and web-crawling, I came to realize that, while sharing those similarities there are also significant differences as his knife must be CF both sides and of course has the compression lock while my Millie has a Ti frame lock reverse side and is tip down only. I also got thinking that what would be really cool would be for Spyderco to come out with a sorta reverse engineered PM 2 with a Ti framelock side as a tribute and companion to some of the earlier Militaries. Just as my Crucarta PM2 and Crucarta Military 2 are great matches in different sizes, a Paramilitary match for my CF/Ti Millie would be pretty cool.

Anyway, I had the Millie with me while returning tools to the wood shop and cleaning up all the mess over there after finishing 3 days worth of projects on our top floor to accommodate my son and his fam arriving here from Cali tomorrow.

Kids’ sports are over (for now). No gatherings on tap for today. The kids will be gone all day at an amusement park (2 hours away) with their cousins, After I do a dump run , it’ll be a chill day which is the best Father’s Day gift I could ask for. However , we agreed to have my niece’s bday party at our house next week since our house is more of a hub for social events. But we’ll deal with that next Sunday. As for today , I’ll be fiddling around in the garden until my wife gets annoyed with my gardening skills (or lack thereof). Then she’ll send me back in the house. Little does she know that’s my plan 😃 Happy Father’s Day.
