EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Man, these weeks are going by sooo fast! Just in general, time seems to be just whipping passed me.

Got the well carried, well used, and well-loved small Sebenza 21 with me today. I tried a new thing last night, instead of using loctite on the few troublesome pivots I have that always work their way out (I'm pretty sure everyone who has a decent accumulation of knives has these, seems to be about 1 in 10 knives, no matter what price category they're in [not that it's a terrible thing]), I tried using Teflon Tape. It's a tip from Les George that I heard through the grapevine, and turns out (so far) that it works great! It's super crazy nice not having to hurry up and get the pivot tension just right, and then waiting 24 hours for it to dry, and hoping that the action isn't different than how you remembered it.

By the way, I won this knife in a raffle a year ago and didn't know who modded it. Someone messaged me on Instagram because he realized that I have a few of his old knives. He said that this was the first opening hole he ever put on a Sebenza (or maybe knife at all), and that he was super worried about messing up the heat treatment with power tools, so he did the entire job by hand with diamond files, working his way out from the thumbstud hole. I thought that was a pretty nifty fact. Have a good day fellas/felletes!

You sir are one lucky son of a gun!!!!! So how many knives are from raffles😉???

I needed to do battle with our overflowing accumulation of cardboard today, so it made sense to stay with the Narrows and test its capabilities for that task. I decided to give its still-factory edge a bit of a touch-up beforehand and found its typically toothy Benchmade bevel was cut at around 15 DPS. I ran it quickly at 20 through the diamonds, browns, and fines on the SharpMaker which yielded a nicely smoother micro-bevel on its laid back secondary grind.

The Narrows' wicked thin M390 blade just flew through all that cardboard as I pretty much figured it would. I came back up from the basement when finished just as my wife came in from gardening. She saw the SharpMaker was still out for a post-cardboard touch-up and now the five Wusthof kitchen knives in the block have the same keen micro-bevel too.

Bacon for dinner?

That's what ... 3 or 4 days worth of bacon, sausage, pork loin, and pork chops, and a day or two of ham 'n egg or ham 'n cheese sandwiches? 🤤
Man if I work around them or watch them much longer idk if I’ll ever eat pork again.
That’s a lie but boy are they some nasty animals

Haha thank you man. Well, I am super lucky to have won certain knives out of the raffles that I've played, however I went through a stage where I'd buy at least one spot in dang near every raffle that was put on, and there are probably a handful that run each day. So, It's costed me a lot buying all those raffle spots. I'm not sure exactly how many knives I've won in total from raffles, the brains super foggy since I just woke up, but I just did a quick count of 6 for sure. 3 of my CRKs came from there, and the few others I have that were more expensive than a CRK are all from there. Either way, I'm super dang grateful for what I've won, and for the knives that I have in general. I've been single for the past bit, and with no kids, so I'm taking advantage of this time in my life and accumulating many of the knives I've been wanting while I still can. Have a good day brother! 🍻
