EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

I don't do this often but after just receiving the Tom Krein Shard (above) yesterday, I immediately put it in my pocket and removed the Spyderco Amalgam (below) that was there before it:

Most of the knives that I choose to carry are smooth metal framed knives and I just knew that I "had to" carry the Shard as soon as I held it in my hand.

-----------------------------------------

I have my favorites but, for comparison, here's a pic of the knives now in this class that I need to consider when deciding what other knife to carry:

From top to bottom:

1) Tom Krein Shard
2) Spyderco Advocate
3) Spyderco Swayback
4) Spyderco Gen 2 Police PE
5) Bernard Arno iMamba
6) Olamic Wayfarer 247
7) Real Steel Megalodon

Another easy hike yesterday to a swinging bridge over the Toccoa River.

On a brief aside; deciding to document the travels of a knife may not have been my brightest idea. I’ve had some struggles over the years. Pulling out a knife in crowded, public places doesn’t always go over well with folks. In addition, having physical limitations poses some serious risks and doesn’t allow me to get the pics I’d like to take.

My wife made a comment yesterday along the lines of “You’re either gonna get arrested for being a knife-wielding whacksack or slip and stab yourself. How’s it gonna look to our granddaughters if you’re marched out in handcuffs or worse yet…..airlifted out by a rescue helicopter?!??”

I’m pretty sure she was joking, but her point wasn’t completely lost on me. In hindsight, I probably should’ve picked a watch to do this with….not sure how the knife is gonna be received in Europe next year.

Screw it. I’m committed at this point. Worst case scenario? My son ends up inheriting a family heirloom with a bunch of entertaining….and one or two extremely tragic….stories attached to it.

Bahahaha

I brought the contract to the Water Museum.

It is located in the Central Water Tower building from the mid-19th century.

Across the river is another important city structure, the central prison. It fulfilled its tasks for a century and a half and was closed only in 2017.

There, next to the Museum of Water, there are the Kikin Chambers, which were built during the life of Peter the Great. This is the house of his friend and assistant Admiral Alexander Kikin.

From the hike thread:
Just a quick evening hike, looking for a nice spot to take a pic to show the midnight sun to those of you that lives farther south

Naturally, the clouds came the moment I came out of the woods..

Arctic mulberry (still early, in late july/early august they turn orange)

So there I was, minding my own buisness, when all hell broke loose and death came from above in the shape of angry seagulls, whose nests I had walked straight into…

The MSI is arguably one of the best offerings from Microtech in the last few years. But, their pocket clip with dual retention points was a pain and a pocket shredder. If you own one of these, give the LNW Clip a try. You won’t be disappointed.
