I wouldn't say that necessarily. The micarta will permanently change in appearance depending on what gets on it, which depends on how you live your life. In a way each one becomes unique to its owner based on their experiences.

Most of the work I do is very physical, so pocket sweat (and maybe a little dirt/oil) has darkened mine. The extremely pleasant feel of the peel-ply micarta handle has not changed.
As said above it just kind of depends. I have carried mine for about 3 weeks in the southern heat and not noticed much difference. I don't have a very adventurous life though and the most intense part of my day is just playing with my kids. The nice thing about micarta is that you can still clean it with soap and water if you need to.Have to ask, what am I missing by not having any Cru-carta? They look nice but are they dirt magnets?
All that being said I love this knife and it's freaky just making me think of asking everything but my Spyderco knives.
