Big 'ol shears or a zip wheel! Chop those bugs right off! Wrap a strap and some duct tape around the ends, chain jack to pull some extra length, and splice 'em back together.

I dealt with enough 250 and 500 MCM to know it's a cast-iron bastard.

Time was more of a factor than anything. And one side ran to the vault a few hundred feet away and the other into a main switchboard a few hundred feet as well. There was plenty of slack to slice them back. The hardest part was getting a big enclosure back over it all with wire there
