I have owned a few of these, but not one of this scale color scheme and it seems I am drawn to that a lot as it has found a firm place in my right front pocket, with no leaving in sight for some time...

Is this typical of the way cylinders look when you open them up?

Pretty much… What you’re seeing is the cylinder head. The block and pistons aren’t pictured. It’s of a car from the mid 80’s with over 240,000 miles on it.

I'd picked out my 0452 to carry today as it's been quite some time since I've pocketed that one. I like the design and shape as it's very much a Russian/ZT hybrid and it's length is very much up my alley. Handling it at first, I immediately recalled that it gives me more than a little trouble in closing given my old, beat-up, arthritic carpenter's mitts. I've developed the habit of slipping my pinkie to the show-side of any frame or liner lock which gives me a better angle and leverage on the lockbar. Still, the 0452 takes a few practice closings to get my muscle memory right anytime I carry it.

As I was just a little annoyed initially as well as being a bit suggestible, I moved up a drawer and grabbed my Cruwear full-size Adamas too as I'd looked at a thread about those knives earlier. I ended up with both, either by my side or each rather fully occupying a separate pocket as we spent the day on and off with our company who spent their day partly hanging out with us or off knocking around the Cape. I sure wasn't lacking for blades, carrying two large knives that have not a lot in common other than their size.

I really like my CRK's and 3 Rivers knives but the AB iMamba has got to be one of my favorite folders. I know RWL34 isn't the "premium steel"many are looking for these days but it's easy to get a very sharp edge and is easy to maintain. The polished blade isn't gonna hid any scratches but screw it, it is a tool and doesn't need to be pretty.
