EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Sheepdog Saturday

Starting to get a bit antsy now with nearly 400 knives sitting in storage. I didn’t think it would bother me this much, but I’m beginning to realize that the simple task of selecting my carry for the day is a large part of what I enjoy about this hobby.

Some days it’s a matter of practicality, making sure I’ve got the right tool for the job. Some days it’s a matter of whimsy, maybe trying to match my knife to my watch or the shoes I’m wearing. When I’m “dressed up” I like to carry something a bit more elegant, refined….a “gentleman’s knife. Occasionally I even like to have a conversation starter or a slight flex in my pocket, something I can show friends at an evening get together when the inevitable “what’ve you been up to lately?” moment comes around.

Anyway, guess my point is that sometimes we take the small things for granted. I miss having options. Give that some thought when you’re choosing which knife to pocket tomorrow morning. Take a minute to relish the decision, and take pleasure in the simple fact that you have that decision to make.

Right now I’ve only got one option at my disposal, and I’ll tell ya’….it’s really helping me appreciate having a diverse collection of knives and the simple pleasure of choosing what to carry each day.

Hope those ramblings make a little sense to someone. In case it’s not obvious, I’m looking forward to being reunited with my knives, lol.

I've been AWOL again for the last three days and it's past midnight now so I'm into day four. I'm still pretty much buried in b-ball admin getting our club ready, plus running a couple team tryouts on the floor Friday, and dealing with league matters as well. I've been back and forth with my Inkosingo's the whole time and finally got some pics today.

My wife and I did take all of Thursday for ourselves and drove one state west to pick up a new ride, trading in our aging Escape and adding something very different than the pick-ups and SUVs we've been driving for the last dozen years .

I hope he enjoyed his treat for being such a good puppy. I bet the airstream is full with the puppies.
