EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Interesting…I didn’t know that protech was manufacturing for Arcform. What was the model? Now I’m curious, Matt!
I believe the slimfoot.

Never made a hammer or axe handle, I have No idea what I'm doing, but I'd like a carbide tipped hammer for straightening blades as needed....I found this ugly, beat up, no name head years ago.

Maybe I can clean it up?
I turned it down some, and brushed up the cheeks. I think it's/was around 8oz.
I drilled a pilot, but still need to drill a 3/8" hole for the carbide that I don't have yet.

Someone sent me a box of black locust for an upcoming project. It was Super green/wet. That was awhile ago, good thing I'm a slow maker....Ha. I figured I should "test" this wood? One piece is now my little hammer handle.

Obviously I still have a lot of little fitting. Shaping, and sanding. This wood is Hard with a bit of Shine. There is a word for it, but idk if I can spell it.....

Happy New Year!

Stay Safe, don't get too Hammered.....
If it is not too late, wood for spindles like this that are to be fitted into a hole (the hammer head or a chair seat (think Windsor Chair)) should be dried some in a warm oven to drive some of the ambient moisture out of the wood. Shrinking it in diameter. Then carve the end for a tight fit in the hammer . Steel or wooden wedge it like normal. As the spindle / handle takes in ambient moisture again , over time, the handle will swell a little in diameter and be even more securely anchored than if the handle had not been super dried.

This is partly what makes Windsor chair joints stay tight even after hundreds of years.

It's not that incredibly slick, I just handled it in one hand and a bead blasted titanium knife in the other hand and they feel about the same. I believe that the Code 4 is actually media blasted before anodizing. It looks like they used a finer media, something like what CRK uses for their glass blasting, but it has a bit of texture. . . . I haven't dropped it. I think you'll like it

THANK YOU !
You are exactly right.
Now that I have spent a day with it I am experiencing the same !
Great over all blade to handle shape.
Nice sharpening coil.
Thanks again.

Carried these two little knives today. They ended up being my favorite production knives of 2024 (without modification).

The JL Drop Point Fixie from Kubey (designed by Justin Lundquist) is a svelte little fixed blade and awesome for what it is. The ergonomics are nice for the size. The stone wash and the scale materials are pleasing to my eye. (I also have the Ultem/PEI version.) It's 14C28N. The sheath is good and while I prefer it with soft loops, it comes with a reasonable belt attachment.

The Vosteed Mini Labrador is a tiny titanium frame lock with a thin and slicey blade, also in 14C28N. Sure, they didn't fully clear the plunge with that sharpening choil but I'll forgive it here. This thing just works and they pulled it off right at the border of being a novelty size.

2007. One year color. Very low miles. Super fun car.
Very nice man ! I was close lol but haven’t been around Mustangs in many years but I remember that one I guessed 2007 from that one picture with a tail light in it. Anyway I Had a 03 SVT Terminator 502 rwh 540ish torque 11.8 in the quarter. Daily driver I sure miss it .

I’ve had it up to 145 MPH. The hand built supercharged 4 valve 5.4 in these things are very reliable and the 6 speed makes it even better. It will break the tires loose in 4 gears. Ask me how I know. I also enjoy how low tech these cars are. It was built before things got complicated.

Well, 2 more days for those still working, we got this. Messed around with the Mnandi and the Bailout yesterday. The bailout has a Ti backspacer in place of the stock backspacer/window breaker, with a little satin finish applied, as well as a bit of heat anodization color.
