Today is just a total slush-fest here on Cape. I headed off to bed with a light dusting of snow outside which likely resulted in about 3" overnight, but it warmed up very early, turning to rain. After a lifetime of working outdoors, if I awaken early, hear rain on the roof and roll over, I end up sleeping in. By 8 AM there was 2" of slush everywhere and very little reason to venture out into it with the rain coming down. Fortunately our oldest stopped by for a couple hours on his way to grocery shop this morning and kindly cleaned off a couple of our vehicles and the front and back entries to the house. What a good guy!
Anyway, I won't be heading outside for any 2nd NKD pics so here's a few of the many I shot yesterday.
I carried the iMamba on Saturday as I thought it might be closely equivalent to the Arius. Well, not so much, as the Koenig in hand seems a much larger and heavier knife despite its blade being only an 1/8" longer. The pic doesn't make that diff seem all that profound.
Blade-wise, the closest comparison I found in my accumulation is with my re-scaled Ritter Grip. The blades are real close in width, thickness, and length while the Koenig's handle is still a taste longer. Interestingly, both of these share my favorite sort of backspacer--partial with integral lanyard attachment. I'll also note here that I'm fine with a handle-to-blade ratio that favors the former as I prefer plenty for my thick, arthritic, old carpenter's mitts to hang onto. I'd always wondered how an Arius' ergos would work for me and that seems entirely A+ from the get-go.
As I did carry it yesterday without posting, here's just one indoor shot of the AB taken just after the Arius unboxing.
