As a 50 year practitioner of the FMA, I am prone to use the louisville slugger eskrima sticks from time to time.. My normal use eskrima sticks are 29 inches in length with a diameter of at least 1.1/8 inch.. a few of my sticks have a minimum of 7 joints and have demolished those smaller sticks from some of the commercial vendors.. I get mine cut to length when I go to the Philippines and personally select the staffs of rattan that are cut to my specific length.. I also use a rattan cane as a mobility assistance tool on a daily basis.. Never go unarmed even when I am not carrying one of my edged weapons

I have a set of stick's made from iron wood. Very good for practice. That's really cool you've been to the Philippines. I do have a couple sets from there. Such a wonderful Art..
Ive studied the Ray Floro knife fighting techniques to broaden my styles. 50 years is an amazing amount of time indeed! Thanks for sharing.

The heaviest set of chucks I ever had was a set I had made while stationed in Taiwan. It was a pair of octagonal pieces of Taiwanese Iron wood which they used to make furniture with and the wood carvers used slabs of this dense hardwood as hammers to make the furniture.. They were 12 inches in length joined with a piece of nylon cord. cracked myself in the knees and crotch so many times while training with them, I wound up giving them to one of my training partners as a going away gift when he departed the country
