I like using a Sharpmaker for the majority of my carry knives. I set the edge to 30 degrees inclusive on my Wicked Edge and then “finish” through the ultra fine stones on the Sharpmaker. This makes touch ups easy and quick going forward. However I’ve never been really good at using it one handed, and to use both hands at the same time I usually brace it against something to keep the base from sliding across the table.

Tried this homemade enhancement for the first time this morning and REALLY liking it. The base of the sharpener friction-fits into the base of the wood bracket, and the bracket is then clamped to a table. The ledge on the front of the bracket hangs over the table so it sits evenly and is in a repeatable position. The idea is mine but credit to my uncle for his woodworking skills.

Carrying these two after a fresh sharpening:

Random question: does the Stretch XL have liners? If not, how does it feel in-hand; is it solid or a little flexy?

No liners, it does feel solid in hand. With the blade open and locked I can flex the handle a very small amount, and it takes quite a bit of effort to do that. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed it in use.

If you’ve ever handled a Benchmade Bugout, the Stretch 2 XL flexes way less than that, or at least this specimen does.
