EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

This is the oldest “modern” folder that I still own. I truly carried it every day for years. Eventually, I decided to have it “professionally” sharpened by a local knife shop. No bueno.

Back in my college days when I worked in a convenience store, an itinerant knife sharpener guy dropped by and made a bid to sharpen our deli knives. Since I wasn't in charge of making those decisions I said, sorry, no. He then asked if I carried a pocketknife, and offered to sharpen it if I did. Turns out I carried the same knife you have here. I asked to see a sample of his work. He handed me his $200.00 Spyderco. I don't remember the model, only that it had an OD green handle and one heck of a spring, and though it was certainly sharp, it looked like he had crudely sandpapered the entirety of the blade, not just the edge. I handed the knife back to him and said no thanks. Too bad. He seemed a likable enough sort, but unimaginably careless with the application of his grinder.

Your pictures make me wonder: did your knife start out with serrations that the local knife shop removed, or was that simply the byproduct of time and many previous sharpening?

Craziness ! It did originally have sedations which were quite worn down and beyond my abilities to repair, at the time. I didn’t think they’d make the damn things disappear though ! 🤣🤣🤣

Also, and as you you may remember, that blade only had an edge bevel on one side, from the factory. They also took the liberty of adding a micro bevel to it. I visited that shop more times over the years…..but never again asked them for sharpening services.

I bet the bottom of that coffee cup they used to sharpen it was sharper then the knife when they got done😆

Rocking this Civivi, which is one of the few with a "show side" clip recess that I don't hate. It was also flavor time with my neighbor. It was a novel choice for being under the weather. Still, I found myself wishing for a regular stick about halfway through. The Tatiana "Waking Dream" is supposedly flavored with vanilla, hazelnut, and whiskey. The combination felt very artificial and reminded me of bad flavored coffees. Does anyone remember those General Foods International Coffees that came in tins, the instant kinds with fake creamer already in them?
