EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Saw those boots in my son’s garage! Tough job but the pay is good! 😎
Is your boy a Lineman ? Either way, he’s got great taste in boots. In 31 years, these Crispi boots are the best I’ve used for line work or outdoor activities in general. Of course, I spend a lot of time in the truck these days. 🤣

Yes! Was in transmission in Texas in the beginning and now distribution here in California! He’s definitely not in the truck yet! 😀

When our son was little, (He turned 50 last month), he & the neighbor boy had Wrist Rocket sling shots. Those things were super easy to shoot, and with a little practice, super accurate.
Here's a pic of what they looked like back then. They've evolved into some really technical/tactical looking stuff since then.

They had a lot of fun shooting at cardboard box targets. I came home one day to find them in the back yard, using their wrist rockets, with glass marbles as ammo, to destroy their old metal Tonka trucks. After they cleaned up the mess, the wrist rockets were confiscated.
I recall when those were hi tech. Looking at some in the "slingshots" thread in the traditional section it is a leap from the old Y tree limbs to these

I remember when I was in my early 20’s I wanted to be a lineman and I hate Heights but the money was good 🤣
Applied at GTE I believe and kept calling and Inquiring after dropping my application off. Finally after a few months they called me for an interview and the lady said wow you really want this job I said yes mam. She said we can train you but you have to work as an information operator for a year and then you can transfer and we’ll train you to be a linesman. I said put me in coach I did it for a year and hated it talking to my self every night after work on the way to my car I was going nuts sitting at a desk all day dealing with idiots on the phone and when you needed to use the restroom you had to hold a sign up that said special and when phone traffic slowed they would let you use the restroom unless it was a emergency you could leave instantly. Supervisors walking around with clip boards taking notes sometimes listening to you standing behind your desk and also listening on the line for your tone of service. A year went by and I made it and put in for a transfer and they said you can’t transfer for another year you can only transfer lateral not up 😳 until 2 years. I walked out and all they saw was As* H***e and Elbows as I walked away 🤣I still remember my operator number to this day. You had to say about 800 times a day when answering each call.
But now Life is good :)
And I’m carrying these 3 today 😆

They’d have seen my arsehole and elbows too, bro. Great story and I’m grateful that you landed on your feet after the trauma ! Seriously, I’d have gone absolutely nuts in that environment, not to mention the false pretenses they hired you into.

The job has been both amazing and grueling in many ways. At the end of it all though , ya get to claim that “I’ve been up more poles than a stripper !” 😜

Cheers, my brother !
