EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

I recently picked up one of these and love the hell out of it. Edge retention has not been great, but it has been pretty great in every other aspect.

It's an interesting design, both in hiding the pivot screw and in covering the edge while closed so close to the scale edge. Mine has good action and solid lockup too.

As far as edge retention, my EDC rotation exploding to "ridiculous" has only given this a few days in pocket since I've owned it. 😅

While 14C28N isn't really a champ on edge retention, it's usually decent, adequate for average EDC, and friendly to strop. Most of the companies using it now seem to do reasonable heat treatments. Some are better than others, with Kubey and Civivi standing out on quality, but I don't generally hear about it being run too soft in recent years. One issue that still comes up with production knives is factory edges going on hot. That can hurt edge retention. Not to diminish our sharpening skills, but I think getting past that top layer and down to fresh steel is at least part of why our subsequent edges tend to be so much better. The only question in that case is how deep the negative effects run. I've seen testing where edge retention picks up dramatically on the very first new edge and others where it starts to pick up (or pick up even more) after several new edges. Hard to say but hope it works out for you.

ETA: I just cleaned the U1. Note to self, don't use knives with nail nicks for food. I zoomed in & was like Ewww. 😝 I used this knife to slice cheese & didn't clean it right away so yeah, that's moldy cheese in the nail nick. 🤦🏼‍♂️🤮😂
Also, this Boker is the only other knife & have that is tip down carry, aside from my BM635. I tried putting it tip up but it put pressure on the lock bar & it was really hard to open. It works well like this, since it's almost deep carry. It's a big beefy folder but doesn't feel like it in the pocket.

Clean as a whistle
